Cutting Cheese The Right Way… With the Best Cheese Knife

If you are looking for cheese graters then click here to see more on Amazon.

Cheese is by far one of my favorite foods, in fact I just went to a small Bavarian town that has a small little shop called the Cheese Monger. Which, if you want to order cheese from them you can because they ship to I believe any where in the US.

My suggestions for cheese from them…

  • Double cream gouda
  • Garlic gouda (my favorite, very creamy and rich)
  • Snow creek swiss
  • Applewood smoked cheddar
  • Huntsman (yummy)

I am not endorsed by them by any means and I am not getting paid for this mention, I am doing this because they are seriously one of my favorite cheese shops in Washington. (and they deliver, even the better!)

Anyways, I had to find good knife to cut cheese because my butter knives and old cheese knives wouldn’t get the job done; the cuts would end up being wavy and uneven, or would cause the cheese to break or crumble. This is a minor inconvenience, but is a pain if you are trying to set up a good looking cheese tray or if you are OCD about how your cheese looks.

How to Cut Cheese Without Ruining the Slice or Using Excessive Force

Here is an excellent video about how to cut cheese efficiently and safely; trust me, I have cut myself while trying to slice some cheese because I had to either…

  1. Press to hard to cut it which I end up slipping
  2. The cheese was to flimsy to cut the cheese and it ended up cutting me

These are a couple of mistakes you can avoid if you get a decent cheese knife. The decision is up to you and whether or not you want a cheese knife, but I believe that you will make the right choice.

Well, now that you have read my little scoop, it’s time to jump into the list of these top quality and great cheese knives!

List of the Best Cheese Knives to Instantly Slice Through Cheese…  No Hassle Required

1. Prodyne Stainless Steel Cheese Knife (Set of 2)

They easily slice the hardest cheese, and both knives are easy to clean; hardly any cheese residual on the blades” – Amazon Reviewer

These are one of my favorite cheese knives, and are one of the highest rated on Amazon. These will slice and dice just about any cheese you need cut because the blades are made with an open surface and 18/18 brush stainless steel.

On top of that they have longer handles which means you won’t have to barely be gripping the knife, don’t you hate when the handles of knives are too short and you can only grip them with 3 fingers? Well I do. They offer great slicing capability, stability and more bang for your buck compared to other cheese knives.

Some people however have complained that they did not come very sharp, and are a bit too rounded, this can be fixed though if you have a good knife sharpener, or if you exchange them for a different pair.

2. Prodyne CK-300 Multi-Use Cheese Knife

Next up is the Prodyne CK-300 which makes for an efficient, multi-purpose cheese knife that can get the job done for you! Yes, I know another Prodyne, however they make superb cheese knives (which you can check them all out here on Amazon at your convenience)

This is simply an excellent product for a terrific price.” – Amazon Reviewer

If you have been looking for a cheese knife that can get the job done without a hassle then look no more… the blade is crafted from stainless steel which means it won’t rust or corrode (unless you treat it without respect) and is known for it’s edge retention (no need to sharpen it every time you use it.)

Overall, it is a great cheese knife and overall well designed multi-purpose knife that can cut through hard or soft cheese with relative ease and can even cut through sausage, vegetables or fruit. A ton of bang for your buck.

3. The Cheese Knife – Black Handle

It is amazing to use on all cheeses from room temperature brie to parmesan reggiano straight from the refrigerator.” – Amazon Reviewer

A lot of people on Amazon say that it doesn’t look like much, but don’t let the looks fool you. This knife can cut through just about any cheese type with relative ease. However we do caution you from forcing it through harder cheeses that are cold, we wouldn’t want you to break your knife or hurt yourself.

The blade is known for cutting cheese without it sticking to the blade…

It leaves both the cheese slice and the remaining block edges smooth. Cheese will not stick to the blade (except cottage cheese).” – Amazon Reviewer

Leave worry behind and get this knife so that you can save time and frustration when cutting the cheese. ha.

4. Progressive International Cheese Knife

This Progressive International is a well made stainless steel cheese knife that can cut cheese at any thickness and hardness. Although we do suggest refraining from cutting very cold and hard cheeses because it can damage the knife. I never really cared for cutting hard cheese fresh out of the refrigerator because it usually ended up in disaster, however with this knife it could make your life much easier.

I have cut through many types and textures and from paper thin to very thick slices of cheese with this knife and I have to say it has never disappointed.”Amazon Reviewer

This is a solid cheese knife that cheese won’t stick to, thus making it easier for you to cut cheese quicker and more efficiently. No longer will you have to worry about cutting wavy, uneven cheese slices; the Progressive International cheese knife will keep you happy for many years to come.

5. Messermeister Pro-Touch 6-Inch Cheese Knife

Last but certainly not least is the Messermeister cheese knife; the largest out of the knives list above and a decent cheese knife. It is crafted from stainless steel that can cut through cheese smoothly; however it doesn’t work as well on harder cheeses which makes it our last choice on this list. It can still cut through harder cheeses, but will take a little bit more effort/finesse. I do suggest to let cold, hard cheeses to warm up for a few minutes before cutting them with this knife.

The cheese doesn’t stick to the knife, which is exactly what I wanted.” – Amazon Reviewer

While the knife is fine for tomatoes, it really shines with cheese.” – Amazon Reviewer

You can’t go wrong with this knife, but I don’t feel as strong about this knife as I do about #1 or #2. However it is the least expensive out of the group, but if you can afford to spend another $8-10 then I would go with #1 or #2.

Whatever cheese knife you choose from this list, will be a good one because they are all made up of high quality material with the highest ratings out in the market. You really can’t go wrong, and if you end up choosing one, then let us know in the comment section below! I would love to know which one you chose and why, or just a simple comment with the name of it would be cool too.
